Frequently asked questions

Is the combo cheaper than buying the two bottles separately?
No, and we would rather say so than let you find out at checkout. The 1 L groundnut is ₹360 and the 1 L sunflower is ₹420 on their own pages, and this pack is ₹780 — the same two prices added up. What you get is one order instead of two and one parcel instead of two, not a discount. The same holds for the other combo packs, and we have written about why we price them that way.

Which of the two do I use for what?
Groundnut for anything that gets properly hot: vadas, bondas, pakoras, a kadai of chakli, and everyday seasoning. Sunflower for the lighter end — palya, stir-fried vegetables, chapatis, dishes where you do not want the oil to taste of anything in particular. Will 1 L of each be enough, and how long will it keep?
For a household of three or four cooking most meals at home, 1 L of groundnut tends to go first — it is the frying oil — while the sunflower lasts longer. Use both within three to six months of opening, kept capped in a cool, dark cupboard away from the stove; our storage guide explains why unrefined oil is perishable. If you find you are reordering groundnut on its own every month, the 5 L is better value per litre than a second combo.
