Cold Pressed Oil delivered to Chitradurga

Chitradurga is groundnut country. Kadalekai comes out of the district's red soil season after season and moves through the mandis at Hosadurga and Holalkere, which makes selling groundnut oil here a slightly odd business. Plenty of households in this district have watched the crop grow in the next field.

So we will be straight about what we are. We press cold pressed oils in Karnataka from seed bought directly from Karnataka farmers, and we deliver across Chitradurga district: the city itself, plus Challakere, Hiriyur, Hosadurga, Holalkere and Molakalmuru. If you already buy loose oil from a ghani you know and trust, keep doing it. What we offer instead is a sealed bottle, a licence number you can check before you spend a rupee, and the same oil arriving next month as arrived this month.

Which oil suits Chitradurga cooking

An honest map, not a sales list.

  • Ragi mudde with soppina saaru or bassaru, nati koli saaru, everyday palya and saaru. Cold pressed groundnut oil (kadalekai enne). It is the district's own crop and the default cooking oil across central Karnataka for good reason: it takes heat well and it does not argue with a strong saaru.
  • Jolada rotti with ennegayi, chutney pudi, badanekayi. Cold pressed niger oil (huchchellu enne). Chitradurga sits on the edge of the North Karnataka belt, and households with Bellary or Davanagere roots will already know what huchchellu smells like. No national brand presses it, which is why we do.
  • Deep frying in quantity: menasinakayi bajji, bonda, and chakli and kodubale at festival time. Groundnut oil again. It is high in monounsaturated fat, which makes it relatively heat stable, so it holds up better to a long hot kadai than a light seed oil. Our Deepavali frying guide goes through which oil for which snack.
  • Oggarane, uppinakayi, chutney pudi. Cold pressed sesame oil (ellenne). The smell is the whole point of it, and it is the first thing deodorising removes.
  • Light everyday cooking where the vegetable should lead. Cold pressed sunflower oil or cold pressed safflower oil (kusube enne). Both seeds grow in the central dry belt, and safflower in particular has been a North Karnataka kitchen oil for generations rather than a health-shop import.
  • Hair, skin and the weekly oil bath. Cold pressed coconut oil, with cold pressed castor oil (haralenne) diluted into it rather than used neat.
  • The pooja room. Deepam oil for daily lamps, and for Deepavali and Karthika masa.

One local note. Chitradurga is dry, and dry is good for oil: humidity is what spoils it fastest. Heat is the other half of the problem, and this district gets plenty of it, so keep the bottle in a closed cupboard away from the stove rather than on the shelf above it. Our storage guide has the rest.

If you are weighing one oil against another, which oil for which job covers the whole range in one place.

Sizes run 500 ml, 1 L, 5 L, a 5 L stainless steel can and a 15 L tin. A 15 L tin makes sense for a large household or a joint family kitchen, not for two people, because we press in small batches and ask you to use an opened bottle within three to six months. Here is why we say that.

Why you can check us rather than trust us

Our FSSAI licence number is 1122632300006. It is printed on every label and verifiable on the FSSAI FoSCoS portal, and we have written up how to do that rather than asking you to take our word for it. Seed is bought directly from Karnataka farmers and crushed slowly in a wooden gaana at low temperature. No hexane, no bleaching, no deodorising, no preservatives, no blending, and the full list of what we will not do is public. Our range is rated 4.65 out of 5 across more than 8,600 customer reviews.

In a district that grows the seed, the fair question is whether what arrives in the bottle is what you would have got from the mill. Run the home tests on it. There are five of them, they need nothing but a glass and a refrigerator, and we have written them all up.

Because the oil is unrefined it looks darker, smells stronger and can leave a little sediment at the bottom. All three are normal, and we explain exactly why.

Elsewhere in Karnataka

We deliver to all thirty-one districts. See delivery across Karnataka, or the pages for Davanagere, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Hubballi-Dharwad and Bengaluru.

Frequently asked questions

Do you deliver cold pressed oil to Chitradurga?
Yes, to Chitradurga city and across the district, including Challakere, Hiriyur, Hosadurga, Holalkere and Molakalmuru.

How long does delivery to Chitradurga take?
Orders are packed in 2-3 business days. After that, free delivery takes 7-14 days, standard delivery at Rs 49 takes 3-7 days and express at Rs 99 takes 1-3 days.

Why buy groundnut oil online in a district that grows groundnut?
Many households here do not need to, and we would not pretend otherwise. What a sealed bottle from us adds is a printed FSSAI licence number you can verify, a known pressing process, and consistency from one month to the next. If your local ghani gives you that, you are already well served.

Which oil is best for frying bajji and chakli?
Cold pressed groundnut oil. It is high in monounsaturated fat, which makes it relatively heat stable, so it copes with a long hot fry better than a light seed oil.

Do you sell niger oil (huchchellu enne)?
Yes. It is one of the few places you will find it bottled, because no national brand presses it.

How do I pay?
All orders are prepaid, paid online at checkout.

Is the oil FSSAI certified?
Yes. Licence 1122632300006, printed on every label and verifiable on the FSSAI FoSCoS portal.
